Samsung Galaxy S4: Increase battery life by disabling Google Services


Samsung Galaxy S4's whooping 5" screen is a big plus point and such bigger screens need a strong battery to make sure that it lasts at least for day. Galaxy S4 is powered by 2600 mAh battery which looks sufficient on the paper. In reality, lot of users facing problem and there are complains about poor battery life. We investigated and found that some of the Google services are eating majority of battery life, so we came up with a solution.

Google's location services which run in background are the culprit. These services ping the servers when your device is connected to the internet. Here's a quick way to save your battery life. What we are going to do is avoiding the location services for wireless networks.

Steps:

  1. Go to galaxy S4's System settings
  2. Move to more tab.
  3. Location Services.
  4. Uncheck Use wireless networks.

This will eliminate the excessive use of Google Services which sucks lot of battery life. The location services will work when you will use the individual app. You can try this out on your Samsung Galaxy S4 and compare the battery life you get before the change and after the making change.
