Forced Restart - How to reboot stuck Moto G

It's not a common for any device to hang, freeze or just stuck at the boot. Sometimes the device becomes unresponsive and you just don't know what to do?  Just read ahead and follow the steps which will demonstrate an easy way to do a forced or a hard restart.

Hard Restart or Reboot your Moto G

Motorola Moto G doesn't really stand strong in the part of hardware so you might end up having issues like Freezing, Hung or Stuck Moto G. Easiest to way to give boost your performance is to restart the device. Off course, it is not the solution but it really does the trick.

Note: This will not delete any of your data from the Moto G device. It will just force your phone to reboot.

Steps to forced restart

1. Press and hold the Power button for about 5-6 seconds.
2. Please note that it's essential to hold the button for more than 5 seconds, Else it won't restart.
3. Once you do this, the device will restart and go through the boot-up sequence.

There's a chance that you may not able to get it right in the first try. Try step 1 to step 3 again.

For most of the cases, this should be enough for your Motorola device to reboot and wake up. If your device still has some issues and won't restart then it is a time for you to pick up your phone and reach the nearest Motorola support center.

Update Motorola Moto G to Android Kitkat 4.4.2

The Motorola Moto G finally gets much awaited Android 4.4.2 OS update. Motorola team releases the update for Indian customers, followed by an OS update for UK, Germany and Malaysia. Some of the key points of the updates are - Phone Dialer, Photo editing app and SMS/MMS support for Google hangouts. Apart from these major changes, there are small perks like - color emoji support, printing support etc.

The camera seems much more responsive and there are new white icons and translucent status bar which looks great.

If you don't get a notification for the Update then you can check it manually with the following steps.
  • Go to settings and then click on About Phone.
  • Select System Updates.
  • The Smartphone will prompt the update if there is any.
  • Click on download and install it easily.

Kitkat 4.4.2 Update for Motorola Moto G

The update patch which is referred as an update (v 171.44.31. en. 03) And needs 230MB of the download. Make sure that you connect it to a Wi-Fi.

The smartphone was released first in December 2013 with Android OS 4.3. Motorola team is quite speedy in terms of releasing update. The phone now belongs to the elite group of phones to feature latest Android OS. Please note that such updates are released in batches and hence don't panic if you don't see the update.

Update: 
Updating your Moto G to Kitkat 4.4.2 disables external USB storage access which is a sad news. It looks like a Bug and Motorola is working on it. Now it requires third-party software or root to access USB storage, similar to Nexus devices.

The latest Kitkat update for dual SIM Motorola G has patched up the glitches and now it supports USB OTG. There is no need to use any 3rd party applications and you can use any file explorer to check the contents.
