Microsoft’s very own first tablet surface RT is up for pre-order. Though it seems they are likely to face problems with the expected sell of an amount of 3 million tablets in next one year. There will be many factors that will affect the sale of the Surface Tablet.
Disadvantages - cons of Microsoft surface RT
1. Price - The biggest disadvantage
One of the Major cons of surface is price which is going to cost Microsoft . Tech pundit expected that the surface RT would cost somewhere around $299 but the very basic model of surface costs $499. With competitors like Google and Amazon launching tablets at a solid 199$ and still struggling to gain market share its hard to see the Surface being a success. Worst thing is that the entry level model doesn’t have any of the advanced connectivity features like cellular data like 3g and LTE.
2. App store - One of the biggest cons
Quality of the application & games has been a serious pain for Microsoft. There are very few apps & games on windows store compared to apple’s iTunes Store, Google play etc. Without good titles in games its hard to see what is so attractive about the Surface tablet.
3. No micro SD card slot
I agree the fact that tablets should be used like the tablets & not like a mobile phone but having options is always advisable for customers. A tablet is meant to be used to watch movies and videos and unless you compensate storage space with exceptional quality (e.g. iPad) the lack of storage space earns you a negative point.
4. Resolution is too low
When you compare the Surface RT with iPad, you will be amazed to see difference between a normal tablet and the display marvel that is the Apple iPad. That is the major selling point for the tablet king and this is exactly where its competitors take a beating. It’s an another major disadvantage which might affect the buyer’s decision.
