Nokia has just launched a new Lumia phone: The Nokia Lumia 620 The phone is smaller and much cheaper than other offerings of Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices. Nokia has taken up on itself to launch an array of affordable smartphones. The latest offering, the Nokia Lumia 620 comes with a 3.8 inch screen, 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and Nokia’s ClearBlack display to improve the viewing experience outdoors in sunlight.

The Nokia Lumia 620 mixing things up

Nokia has started playing with the colors little by little too, now offering colors like lime green and orange, though how popular these colors will be remains to be seen. Such catchy colors usually catch the eye the first time but after a while start annoying the user.

Marko Ahtisaari, the Executive VP of Design said,
We knew there was space in the portfolio for something more compact, Something that fit beautifully in the palm of the hand. But something that still had the camera, a solid camera, and the signature apps that Nokia is noted for. And as well we wanted something that would take our pure color story and just give it a burst of playfulness — mix it up a little bit.

The Nokia Lumia 620 comes with Windows Phone 8 and also includes NFC technology for linking up with various accessories, an “especially loud speaker” on the back of the phone, a “very fast” five megapixel camera and Nokia-specific Windows Phone 8 apps/features such as SmartShoot, Cinemagraph, City Lens, Lenses, Maps, Music, Drive and Transport.

The design chief said the phone will be sold at $249 (before taxes) and is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device by far. The Nokia Lumia 620 is set to ship in January, to Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa first, with Europe and Canada following “soon thereafter”.
