Nokia Lumia 505 - New Windows Phone with WP 7.8

Nokia is lily to launch new Lumia addition - Lumia 505 in mexico. Last week, there were some talks about leaked images of Nokia Lumia 505. Today, Nokia Mexico has confirmed the arrival of Lumia 505 in WP Family which is the latest WP after Lumia 510.  First glance does not excites us at all. There is nothing impressive about Nokia Lumia 505 and it comes with very common hardware. Phone comes with windows phone OS 7.8.  Before heading for the first look do Check out the list of Windows Phones in 2012.

It has  AMOLED 3.7 inch display. The Phone is powered by single core 800mHz processor which disappoints us & 256MB ram is something you don't expect now days when phones are coming up with 2 GB of ram.

On the back of Lumia 505, there's an 8 MP camera of albeit sans Carl Zeiss technology which is best thing we found about Lumia 505. There is no front-facing camera to keep the price down.

Another issue we came across is just 4 GB of internal memory &  no microSD card slot. No expandable memory for just 4GB of phone arises seriosus question about Nokia's strategy. What sense does it make to bundle 8 MP camera with phone having just 4GB internal and 256mb ram ?

Nokia is yet to announce price for Lumia 505 but it should cost more than the other lumia devices like Lumia 510, Lumia 610 and Lumia 710.

Nokia Launches Lumia 620 with Windows Phone 8

Nokia has just launched a new Lumia phone: The Nokia Lumia 620 The phone is smaller and much cheaper than other offerings of Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices. Nokia has taken up on itself to launch an array of affordable smartphones. The latest offering, the Nokia Lumia 620 comes with a 3.8 inch screen, 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and Nokia’s ClearBlack display to improve the viewing experience outdoors in sunlight.

The Nokia Lumia 620 mixing things up

Nokia has started playing with the colors little by little too, now offering colors like lime green and orange, though how popular these colors will be remains to be seen. Such catchy colors usually catch the eye the first time but after a while start annoying the user.

Marko Ahtisaari, the Executive VP of Design said,

We knew there was space in the portfolio for something more compact, Something that fit beautifully in the palm of the hand. But something that still had the camera, a solid camera, and the signature apps that Nokia is noted for. And as well we wanted something that would take our pure color story and just give it a burst of playfulness — mix it up a little bit.

Cheapest Nokia Lumia with great Windows Phone 8 Features

The Nokia Lumia 620 comes with Windows Phone 8 and also includes NFC technology for linking up with various accessories, an “especially loud speaker” on the back of the phone, a “very fast” five megapixel camera and Nokia-specific Windows Phone 8 apps/features such as SmartShoot, Cinemagraph, City Lens, Lenses, Maps, Music, Drive and Transport.

The design chief said the phone will be sold at $249 (before taxes) and is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device by far. The Nokia Lumia 620 is set to ship in January, to Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa first, with Europe and Canada following “soon thereafter”.

Cons of Lumia 820

The phone is quite heavy
It features a 4.3 inch display and the phone is quite heavy for its relative size. Bigger phones like Samsung Galaxy S3 weighs just 137g whereas the weight of 820 is 160g.

Windows Marketplace is the biggest disadvantage
Windows marketplace is yet to gain traction with lot of games & and that is why Windows announced prizes for those who will add quality apps to the Windows Marketplace. In spite of all its efforts the windows marketplace still lacks a lot of the famed apps and that is what prevents lots of customers from buying a Windows device.

Basically if you look at Nokia's smartphone strategy from far, it seems to be trying to combine the good and bad of Android and iOS. Whether it will succeed or not we will know soon enough.
