Update Motorola Moto G to Android Kitkat 4.4.2

The Motorola Moto G finally gets much awaited Android 4.4.2 OS update. Motorola team releases the update for Indian customers, followed by an OS update for UK, Germany and Malaysia. Some of the key points of the updates are - Phone Dialer, Photo editing app and SMS/MMS support for Google hangouts. Apart from these major changes, there are small perks like - color emoji support, printing support etc.

The camera seems much more responsive and there are new white icons and translucent status bar which looks great.

How to get Kitkat update

If you don't get a notification for the Update then you can check it manually with the following steps.
  • Go to settings and then click on About Phone.
  • Select System Updates.
  • The Smartphone will prompt the update if there is any.
  • Click on download and install it easily.

Flipkart.com is the first retailer to sell in Motorola Moto G in India and the Smartphone is selling like hot cakes. It's been just 10 days and Moto G gets its first update in India.

The update patch which is referred as an update (v 171.44.31. en. 03) And needs 230MB of the download. Make sure that you connect it to a Wi-Fi.

The smartphone was released first in December 2013 with Android OS 4.3. Motorola team is quite speedy in terms of releasing update. The phone now belongs to the elite group of phones to feature latest Android OS. Please note that such updates are released in batches and hence don't panic if you don't see the update.

Android Kitkat 4.4 For Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL & Xperia ZR

Google recently rolled out Android Kitkat 4.4 and Japanese giant Sony has already revealed the OS updation schedule for premium Sony Xperia handsets like Xperia Z, Xperia ZR and Xperia ZL. IT looks like Sony strictly making sure that all the updates are rolling out before the competitors and they even have a blueprint to make sure that even mediocre devices like Xperia S and Xperia SP will get the Kitkar 4.4.

As per the latest entry on Sony's blog, first few device to get the Android 4.4 would be Sony Xperia Z - rival device of Samsung Galaxy S4 which also a waterproof android phone by Sony,  Xperia ZL and Xperia Z1.

Along with other Z devices, a phablet Z Ultra as well as Z1- Honami will get the 4.4 OS update.Google Android has already announced that the 4.4 KitKat is designed and created in such a way that it can even run on devices with 512 MB of RAM. The OS 15% efficient and needs lesser battery to run.

Phones getting Jellybean 4.3

Before Jumping to Kitkat updates, Sony will first bring the 4.3 Jellybean updates for the top tier devices. Along with those devices, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V will be lines up for OS update 4.3.

There is a good chance that Sony might bring these update for devices like Sony Xperia S, Xperia SP, Xperia M, Xperia C butfor the time being there's no official word about these updates.

Kitkat Vs Key Lime Pie - Story behind it's Name

Google recently  made Android 4.4 Kitkat official which puts the full stop to the discussions about naming it as a Key lime pie. The name 'key lime pie' has been trending since the very first rumors came out. Real name of next Android was revealed few days ago it's launch and there's very interesting fact behind naming next Android OS.

The Google Android team managed to maintain secrecy of the real  name and even other Google employees were under impression that next Google OS will be called the Key Lime Pie. Android team internally refereed the prototype as a KLP and even partners were under the same impression.

So why the name was changed?

Most of us know Hiroshi Lockheimer's who is an Android engineering head. He's been part of Team Google from many years. Kitkat is Lockheimer's favorite candy-bar and that's the reason the next operating system will be named KitKat. In year 2010, the Android team decorated Lockheimer's office cabin door with KitKats candy bar.

Nestle and Android together created 500 special editions kitkat bars of Android shape. Those candy bars are likely to be auctioned soon.

Android Key lime pie turns out to be just another rumor as Android has officially unveiled - Kitkat Android version 4.4. Google Nexus 5

Google Nexus 5 can be the first Android Smartphone to run Kitkat. Google has set a trend to release new Nexus devices with newer OS. The Google Nexus 5's leaked images have suggested that the phone will be a particularly slim handset and run the newly confirmed Android 4.4 Kit Kat mobile operating system.

Motorola Moto X

After Nexus, Google's own Motorola Moto X will be the device to get the KITKAT. Moto X is powered with awesome hardware and likely to support exclusive Google feature available only for Motorola devices.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Samsung has always taken the lead while showcasing latest OS. Samsung recently rolled out Galaxy Note 3 which will be the first handset from Samsung to get the Kitkat.
