Google Nexus 5 Signal drop problems - Emergency calls only mode

Have you observed any Signal issues in your Google Nexus 5? It's turning out to be a very common issue in Nexus 5 and a lot of users have already requested a replacement from Google play store. The symptoms of the network issues are - randomly getting Emergency Calls Only mode, Losing GSM signal after SMS, Losing all the network signal bars twice or thrice a day.

Solution for signal drop - the Emergency calls only mode

Restarting your N5 is the easiest temporary solution, but it can be very annoying for the users. The problem has been observed for worldwide networks such as AT&T & T-Mobile in USA, Rogers and Fido in Canda, O2 and Three in UK as well as TIM in Italy. Most of the users have experienced signal drop after sending a Text SMS. SMS message gets delivered then it loses partial connection to the network. SMS and voice calls fail to function, but data are still accessible.

So far we have found a few workarounds like

1. Go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Choose automatically. This should do the trick.
2. Turning off the LTE helped few. The problem is less likely to occur in 3G devices.

This is definitely a bug in the Nexus 5 and we are hoping that Google could correct it with the next software update. The very first update for Nexus 5 couldn't resolve this problem.
